Food has always been a vehicle for connecting me to my family history--it being something my parents initially lacked at a younger age, but now being something that has formed the basis of hobbies and careers. Housing has been something I had taken for granted, until I began hearing about family and friends who were losing housing simply because they lacked resources to assist them. Joining Basic Needs was my opportunity to ensure that folks don’t feel like they don’t have anywhere to turn to. Why I’ve stayed is because of the incredible drive of members to advocate for our campus and beyond. Increasing access to resources has been something I have been passionate about, but having a community to share this with is priceless.
