Hey everyone! My name is Roman and I'm from San Jose in the Bay Area. I'm the first member of my family born in the United States. Both my brother and sister are Cal alumni, which would make me the third in the family to make it to UC Berkeley! I've spent over six years in the San Francisco nonprofit world, working with various communities of unhoused folks to provide navigation and tenancy support services so that folks could have steady access to safe and permanent housing. Throughout that time, I've worked across the board with service providers, city and county agencies, and property management companies to make placements across a vast portfolio of housing options in the Bay Area. Having worked extensively as an advocate for basic needs during my time as an undergraduate at UC Davis, I wanted to bring my experience back home to the UC system to build more robust pathways for students in need of affordable housing here in the Bay Area. I can usually be found offline at a concert, taking photos of local and international landscapes, meditating in an ancient redwood grove, or performing poetry at a local open mic. I'm excited to build a community of care that best serves student needs, and look forward to connecting!
