Get in Touch with the BNC!

The Basic Needs Center supports students with food, housing, and financial stability resources, and connects students to other essential services. The Basic Needs Center is made up of three distinct physical spaces which provide community connection, individual care, and direct food support. Students can engage with the Basic Needs Center team in person and online.

To Get Support

In-Person Support

Our Welcome Center is open Monday-Friday from 1:00-4:30pm and is the primary location for in-person support. During this time, you can stop by to talk with a Basic Needs Center team member about CalFresh questions & complications, sign up for an in person appointment with a member of our Care Team for support with complex basic needs challenges, and pick-up a Grab n Go meal if available. 

Please note: These in-person offerings are only held during the Fall and Spring semesters. To view our Summer options, please see below.

Virtual Support

For virtual support, please fill out our Assistance Form. This is the best virtual entry point for all UC Berkeley students facing challenges with access to adequate food, stable housing, financial resources, or other areas of basic needs to connect with our team and most relevant resources. 

BNC Summer Offerings (July 7th-July 30th)

Food Pantry

-Tuesdays: 1pm-2:30pm

-Wednesdays: 10am-11:30am

-Thursdays: 11am-12:30pm and 2pm-3:30pm

CalFresh Appointments:

Basic Needs Appointments: 

Virtual appointments with a BNC staff member available Tuesdays-Thursdays from 1:30-3:30 pm. Students can book a virtual appointment via Calendly up to 3 business days in advance, which are ideal for:

-Students looking for support with complex needs and who would prefer to meet with a member of the BNC team.

-Students who do not feel comfortable sharing their needs through our assistance form or whose needs have changed or escalated.

-For general questions, we encourage folks to explore our website first before scheduling an appointment.

Collaboration Request Form

The Collaboration Request Form serves as the centralized location to make requests for collaboration with the BNC. Collaboration with the BNC can include, but is not limited to, requests for presentations, program participation, thought-partnership, interviews, and more.

Basic Needs Welcome Center

The Welcome Center is our primary space for students and BNC-hosted events. The Welcome Center is open Monday through Friday from 1:00-4:30pm, and is located on the first floor of MLK Student Union (right next to the Cal Student Store). Basic Needs Appointment Space

The Appointment Space is where students who have a scheduled appointment with a specific staff member will meet. The Appointment Space is located in bNorth Suite 72 (lower level of MLK Student Union).

Basic Needs Food Pantry

The Food Pantry is a food program designed to meet the short-term, immediate food needs of all UC Berkeley students. Students can sign-up using our virtual line to visit our Food Pantry up to once per week. The Food Pantry is located in bNorth (lower level of MLK Student Union).
