Steph Porcell

Job title:
Care Coordinator
Bio/CV:

Hi everyone - my name is Steph Porcell (she/they) and I'm so honored to be a part of the Cal Community with y'all and the Basic Needs Center as one of the newest Care Coordinators! My background and training is in the field of social work, ranging from direct service practice to community and systemic interventions.

Most recently, I was a staff member at San Francisco State University beginning in 2017 as a Case Manager with the Guardian Scholars Program under EOP, and progressing to a role as Housing Stability Coordinator with the Basic Needs team. In that position, I supported the launch, development, and direct care management of their first housing crisis program, including overseeing AB74 Rapid Rehousing partnerships with community providers in the SF Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing. While at SF State, I was also a trainer with the SAFE Zone Ally Program and Trauma Informed Practice Committee, uplifting BIPOC LGBTQIA advocacy and trauma informed/healing centered care.
I am a provider with lived experience centered in values of community, justice, equity and building access to education, belonging, and health through collective centered practice. I received my bachelor's from UC Irvine and my Master's in Social Work from San Francisco State is nearly finished. In my free time, you can find me hanging out with my best bud/terrier mix Riley, looking for some kind of sports league to join, cooking and eating good food with my partner, friends, and family, and seeing lots of live music. Looking forward to getting to know you and to be a part of our students' support system here at Cal!
