Due to the rise of educational expenses and cost of living, the rate of food insecurity among college students is high. CalFresh is a major social safety net program that can address the student hunger problem. It is important to spread the awareness of CalFresh so that we can support students who are struggling with food resources. As part of the UC Berkeley community, I hope assisting students with the CalFresh application process could minimize some of their barriers to access CalFresh.
Hi! My name is Josie and I can't wait to be serving as a CalFresh Ambassador for the 2021-2022 term. I believe basic needs should be accessible to everyone regardless of age, background, income, etc. Understanding that uneven access to basic needs is part of a larger web of historical injustices, I hope to do my part in further understanding these complexities and bridging the gap in food insecurity—one Calfresh application at a time.

I graduated from California State University Long Beach in 2019 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. While in school, I worked as a behavioral therapist for over 3 years, where I supported clients and their families using ABA therapy.
