Food Recovery
When and where are meals available?
Meals are available during BNC Open Hours (Monday through Friday from 1-4:30pm) in the BNC Welcome Center located on the 1st floor of the MLK Student Union (MLK 107), next to the Cal Student Store. Please note that total meal availability and type is dependent on donations and cannot be guaranteed. Variety and quantity may fluctuate.
Who are GrabnGo meals for?
We've partnered with organizations that are already supporting students with higher rates of food insecurity. Students who are part of BUS, BHS, SPC, and USP can access meals in their respective spaces.
While we can't gurantee the quantity, we will often have extra meals available at our Welcome Center during Open Hours (Monday-Friday from 1:00-4:30pm). Meals are intentionally prioritized for students with barriers to making meals, without access to a kitchen, enough funds, and/or time. To reduce barriers to access and ensure no food goes to waste, we have opened up eligibility to all students when meals are available.
Where does the food for Grab n Go Meals come from?
The Basic Needs Center is partnering primarily with Berkeley Dining to pick up fresh food donations on a weekly basis from dining halls and on campus restaurants.
